Fairness(Assessment)...
Fairness as an assessment is having equality in the classroom on performances, no matter what the student's gender, race, or background may be. All students should be able to demonstrate the skill and knowledge that is being assessed. Throughout my years being on the other end I realize that it is difficult to to treat every single student the same. All students have different personalities, communication skills, learning concepts, etc.. I personally think that you can be fair in assessing, but still allow your student's individuality be considered in their work or work habits. You don't have to grade accordingly because other student's will notice this, and will bring it to your attention, but always keeps in mind these things because they will allow you to distribute work, and teach lessons that compromises with everyone.

I completely agree with your post! All students should be respected and given equal opportunities!
ReplyDeleteNeijah,
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting.
You explained, " personally think that you can be fair in assessing, but still allow your student's individuality be considered in their work or work habits."
Can you explain how you would do this in your classroom?
Neijah-
ReplyDeleteGreat informative post. I personally liked how you related this topic into your personal experiences. I also agree with your outlook on what your teaching style will be and how to have decided to still let your students express themsleves and be who they are. I think that is the most important aspect and I too hope to achieve that.
